We joined a mercenary company operating out of Ferrumgard due our trip out to the Marches. I was surprised to find them clad in Imperial Colours and luckily they were loyal servants to the Empress rather than sim. Well armed and well equipped, they proved to be very useful on the road ahead.
Scribe Feldherr, Imperial Servant
One of the first 3d printing Kickstarter I joined after getting my printer was the Dogs of War Free Companies set, a group of figures representing a group ideal for some kind of landsknecht mercenaries in either Fantasy or Historical gaming. I was particularly drawn in by the variety of poses, ideal for the Skirmish style of games I enjoy. Once I got the full set in hand, I got them printed out at 0.05mm layer depth on the Mars Pro, undercoated and…. left for about six months.
However, while cleaning out my WIP trays, I found this set and decided that actually, with the new rules in progress, a set of more “human” fighters would be really handy to have together. Also, seeing as I have a box of 30-something ultramodern figures on their way, it made sense to paint something different as a break.
This first set of four was a real test set, trying to find out the best colours and techniques. I’ve got another seven figures of this to do, so more details coming soon once I finish them all off. However, I’m super happy with how good they look even off my older printer with the worse settings. Definitely still able to punch above it’s weight, espeically with my level of painting!
As an aside, I’m also a fan of just how these regular humans make the monstrous even more impressive to look. I really need to paint up my Keeper of Secrets and soon.
